Hi Lesley
Sounds like you are doing extremely well with your protein and clear fluid intake and focus. Try not to worry about the stall on the scales. 14lbs is a lot of weight to lose in 2 weeks so your body is in repair and recovery mode post op. This is natural and happens to most people. Do your body measurements also, another good way to measure progress as the scales don’t always show the full picture. Make sure you are eating enough calories also around 1000-1200
Keep going, good things are happening
It can be a little frustrating but it’s a case of trusting the process and doing your bit, which it sounds like you are doing a great job 👏🏻
If you have any issues please do raise this with your provider also
Keep up the great work 😘 xx

Hi Natalie
Happy New Year to you too
And halfway through your weight loss journey already within 10 months is fab, so please always remember that. As you are nearing you weight goal the pounds become that little bit harder to lose and motivation/bad habits can creep it as you are starting to relax into your surgical journey.
Stomachs, over time, will give a little due to the swelling and scar tissue softening so try not to worry I am sure everything is how it should be. But saying that the stomach is a muscle and it is important to really stick to the advice to keep things in order over time.
It really sounds like you have already given yourself a good talking too and have identified where the blips/stalls are likely coming from. By the way weight loss stalls happen, to everyone… can be for a few weeks, can be for a few months and can happen at anytime throughout your journey. It can just be a way for your body to adapt and recover from sudden losses and getting over the changes in metabolism
Well done for refocusing on your diet, this first and foremost is the most important part of the weight loss journey. Some additional pointers – make sure you are drinking 2 ltrs of water daily, minimal of 60g of protein, food/meals should be textured and balance (side plate 1/2 protein 1/4 carbs 1/4 veggies or salad) avoid shakes/soups and slider foods. back to basics on your 20202020 rule – chew 20 wait 20 seconds and eat within 20 mins – stopping when feeling satisfied not over full – most important. Challenge snacking/hunger – and starting the gym will ensure you are getting the all important exercise/toning and fat burning to make the journey complete
And lastly try not to worry, sounds like you know what needs doing and you have a plan of attack, start a little food/exercise diary if this helps and keep going – you will get there, these last few stones won’t be as easy as the first but totally worth it.
If you have any concerns do also reach out to your provider 🙂
Good luck with everything and keep us posted xx

Hi Alex
The only medication we know of that you cannot take post op is NSAID meds. But we would strongly advise that you just keep on doing what you are doing.. honestly you are doing amazing and little stalls and plateaus happen on every journey and this is no reflection on what you are doing it’s just your body catching up with the process. Your surgery should and really does give you the ability to just follow a healthy balanced diet… doing exactly as you are doing, keeping a check on protein, making sure you’re hitting your 2ltrs of water. Things will happen in a natural and healthy way. You are doing amazin…!!! Keep up the great work xx

Hi Araba
It’s hard not to be scale focused, especially in the early weeks but this can be completely normal as well as disappointing to see. This is not a reflection on anything you are doing – it is very natural for this to happen as your body is in recovery and replenishing mode. Are you making sure you are eating enough, getting your protein and water intake in? Bowels functioning? Have you spoken with your dietitian recently? To give your diet a personal once over maybe wise if you haven’t.
Has there been a big weight loss initially post op? This can cause a stall a few weeks in as your body is catching up with things
Keep to the plan and things will settle and restart.. it’s hard especially when moving from one surgery to another but keep positive and keep up the good work with focus.. this will all pay off in the end. Make sure you do your body measurements- you can still be seeing progress in inches sometimes xx

Hi Alex
You can have lactose but just watch the sugar content. Try get the sugar free option if possible. If you put constipation in the search bar you will find some articles on ways to help manage things going forward. Prune juice is good, add some water so it is not as concentrated to avoid dumping. If things persist speak with your GP. clear fluids and movement are key, so plenty of water and exercise 👍🏻 xx

Hi Kirsten
Unfortunately it can be normal, just from the change in hormones and intake. Make sure you are taking all your vits, eating good nutritional foods. Maybe a chat with your GP to see if they can advise anything. It should sort itself out in time xx

Great advice Sara – 6 stone off is fantastic progress and without any fad diets. Regaining a normal eating pattern is so important for the longer term weight loss and maintenance.
Well done you and great support and encouragement for the members 😘 xx

We would always advise a healthy textured diet to be the best way forward. You would get more satisfaction and satiety stimulation from food you have to chew. Maybe get a side plate and work on the portions advised, you would generally find from a calorie perspective there isn’t much difference. If you think your surgery replaces the need for any short term diet plans and gives you moderation longer term. So work with this
Hope this helps and best of luck, you’ve got this xx

Hi Amie
So early on this can be your body replenishing and repairing post op. Try not to worry, It maybe that you have had a decent loss in the first 2 weeks that your body is just catching up
Especially with a lower BMI the loss may not be as significant as others.
Keep to plan, hit your protein 60g daily min and 2 ltrs of water – things will kick in once your body is ready xx
