Let’s do Lunch – Soft Style

 

If you are on the soft stage of your post – op diet lunchtime can be a challenge. Your typical lunches at this stage you are unable to manage – sandwiches, wraps, pittas, crackers etc.  The easiest way to manage lunchtime is to cook a little extra the night before for your evening meal, pop it in the fridge and have it the following day at lunchtime – an easy, fuss free lunch. If you haven’t any leftovers though you are going to need some other options

 

 Or you may want to dine out for lunch but are unsure what to have. The last thing you want to be worrying about after surgery is what you can manage when you are out and about.

 

Here’s a few ideas to help:

 

Dine In:

  • Macaroni cheese – very well, cooked pasta
  • Scrambled eggs and tinned tomatoes
  • Tuna mayo with well cooked pasta
  • Poached egg with mashed avocado
  • Cheesy omelette
  • Tomato based sauce with pasta – add a little grated cheese for protein
  • Baked beans with jacket potato (no skin)

 

Dine Out:

  • Shepherds or cottage pie
  • Fish pie
  • Spaghetti Bolognese – mashed well
  • Chilli jacket potato (inside only – no skin)
  • Soft fish with mashed potato and veg – mashed
  • Chunky soup – leave the bread
  • Risotto
  • Flaky salmon with sweet potato
