Break – fast

Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day ... read our little article to find out if breakfast really is as important as everyone says

Breakfast is often referred to as the most important meal of the day but it is often the most neglected. Busy lifestyles often mean there is not time for breakfast so it’s easy just to rush out the door and forget about it altogether! Breakfast means to break the fast of the night before so don’t miss it!!

Why Should You Eat Breakfast!

  • To speed up your metabolism
  • To improve the quality of your diet – a good healthy breakfast can provide your body with carbohydrate, fibre, vitamins and minerals
  • To improve your mental awareness
  • To manage your weight better – as good breakfast can stop you craving fatty snacks late in the morning or can stop you overeating at lunchtime.

With a band your meals are smaller so it’s virtually impossible to get all the nutrients in that you need in just 2 meals a day – you need breakfast!!

Breakfast Ideas

  • A mini fry up – In spray oil, bacon, mushrooms, onions served on wholemeal toast and with a few beans (A good one for the weekend)
  • Cereal and Milk – choose a high fibre cereal such as shredded wheat, Branflakes and low fat milk. You could sprinkle it with blackberries or chopped strawberries for a little extra flavour
  • A seeded toasted bagel with low fat cream cheese or honey
  • A slice of wholemeal toast with peanut butter
  • A toasted crumpet with low fat spread
  • A mini pancake with a drizzle of honey or a tsp of pure fruit preserve

If you sleep in or have no time for breakfast then at the very least grab some fruit or a muesli bar on your way out! You might be in a hurry but remember the 20+ rule!!
